Teaching
Why do you call your classes Big, Brave Drawing?
My teaching pedagogy is a reaction to 30 years of teaching art in schools. I have too frequently witnessed students striving and struggling to achieve photographic perfection...and losing confidence along the way. For me, drawing is a physical activity where the learner uses their hand, arm and shoulder to draw on large pieces of paper. That gives plenty of room for the media and the body to do their thing. I believe bravery is closely related to trust. My aim is to provide students with quality materials that are fit-for-purpose, combined with high quality teaching. Students quickly learn to trust the technique, the media and me.
